Our 64-day construction blitz has now been going for four weeks and we have re-built and re-opened Park and Charman roads. With crews now putting the finishing touches to Balcombe Road, by early next week all three roads will be open boom gate free.
Last week, we finished excavating the rail trenches, with the equivalent of more than 74 Olympic-sized swimming pools of soil removed in Cheltenham and Mentone. This week we have been continuing work on your new station buildings and reinforcing the trench walls. Cheltenham Station is taking shape with its new steel canopy in place while in Mentone we’ve completed installing the deck for the new heritage bridge.
In Cheltenham we have constructed a deck over the rail line to future proof for any potential development opportunities. Any future projects would be subject to community consultation and formal planning processes.
Trains will be back up and running on Monday 27 July, with your brand-new Mentone Station opening on Monday 3 August and Cheltenham Station opening on Monday 17 August.
